Born in the Pascack Valley of northeastern New Jersey in 1970, Michael studied Finance and Art History at Fordham University in New York before moving into his first work in the publishing industry.
Splitting his time between the steel canyons of New York City and the hills, valleys and waterfalls of northeastern New Jersey, the beautiful song of nature’s intricate rhythms and structures, juxtaposed with the deconstructed ballet of the human aesthetic most impressed itself upon Michael's thoughts.
After discovering waterfalls, deer and wild turkey in the hills and hollows of the Ramapo Mountain Range, Michael decided to return to college.
He attended the University of Maryland and studied mathematics, engineering, sculpture and music.
During his years there, the interplay and dance of these varied disciplines was revealing, inspiring, maddening and meditative.
Eventually he graduated an active sculptor of stone, timber and metals with a degree in structural engineering.
Michael worked as a consulting structural engineer for 10 years, fortunate to practicing with some of the leading firms in both the Washington, DC area and the country. In the Autumn of 2008, in the midst of the most most 'lovely' economy since The Great Depression, he left the internationally recognized engineering firm of Robert Silman Associates to pursue his career as an artist.
Michael produces sculptural art forms in metals, hardwoods and various other materials.
