Works in Jan’s Totems series present icons, objects, and scenes as metaphors for reflection on current events and themes relevant to contemporary living.
Made To Measure is a tribute to Jan’s time as a gallerist, where his job, in addition to representing his fellow artists’ work and statements, was to find the right pieces for collectors who had entrusted him with that responsibility.
So with a measuring tape, here in the form of a foldable carpenter’s rule, Jan pays tribute to the discipline of ‘finding the fits’ between artists and collectors in his work as a gallerist.
