Overload Installation

US$17,000.00

Works in Jan’s Market Makers series reflect on the role that branding, marketing, and social media have played in our lives.

Overload is a critique of United States gun culture and the ways that marketing media can get it wrong, incorporating a portrait of the artist into a mid-twentieth-century advertisement for Winchester firearms, where the spokesperson sits on top of a pile of spent shotgun shells, advertising the deadly weapon as if it were a toy.

In the sculptural installation of the piece, the work is joined by 500 spent shotgun shells, bringing the statement off the wall and into 3 dimensions.
